# Stars Hollow, by the Numbers

> An unofficial, data-driven fan site that counts what happens in all 153 episodes of Gilmore Girls (seven seasons, 2000–2007), read line by line from the scripts.

Key numbers:
- How many arguments does Lorelai have in Gilmore Girls? Across all 153 episodes Lorelai has 150 on-screen arguments with Rory, her parents or Luke: 35 with Rory, 85 with Emily and/or Richard, and 30 with Luke.
- Who does Lorelai argue with the most? Her parents. 85 of her 150 arguments are with Emily and/or Richard, and 63 of those are with Emily alone.
- Who does Rory argue with the most? Rory has 131 arguments in total. Her most frequent opponents are her mom (35), Paris (24), Logan (19).
- How many times is coffee mentioned in Gilmore Girls? Coffee (including espresso, lattes and decaf) is mentioned 815 times across 153 episodes, 305 of them by Lorelai. The most caffeinated episode is 5x15 "Jews & Chinese Food" with 21 mentions.
- How many Friday night dinners are shown in Gilmore Girls? 76 episodes show a Friday night dinner with Emily and Richard. Lorelai argues with her parents in 54% of those episodes.
- Which Gilmore Girls episode has the most arguments? 2x11 "Secrets and Loans", with 7 arguments between Lorelai, Rory and the people closest to them.
- Do Lorelai and Rory fight more than they hug? No. On screen they share 53 hugs and "I love you"s against 35 arguments, about 1.5 warm moments for every fight.
- Who apologizes the most in Gilmore Girls? Lorelai, with 88 sincere apologies, followed by Rory with 78. Emily apologizes 6 times.
- How often does Lorelai call Emily "Mother" instead of "Mom"? Rarely. In lines spoken to Emily she says "Mom" about 837 times and "Mother" about 35 times.
- How were these numbers counted? Every script for all 153 episodes was read line by line. An argument counts only when both people push back across several lines; banter does not count. Coffee, "Mom" versus "Mother" and who appears were counted directly from the script text. Treat each number as accurate to within a few.
